Cruelty-Free Policy

 

 

   

What is a Cruelty-free Policy?  What does it mean for your dog? 

Don't forget, at A Royal Touch, the customer is always right. Right?  But don't forget also the customer is your dog, NOT you!

We will not, under any circumstances, cause pain to your dog.  This means:

bulletIf your dog's hair is matted to the point where it cannot be humanely brushed out, it's a shave or there's the door.  After fourteen years grooming I will never understand why pet owners place beauty above humanity.  You did not maintain the dog's coat in between trims, it is YOUR fault.  Why should the dog be hurt because he was unlucky enough to be adopted by someone who thinks he's more of a fashion accessory than a living animal deserving of compassion and understanding?  Bottom line:  It's just dog hair.  It will grow back.  Buy a sweater, learn how to brush and get over yourself!
bulletIf your dog has an ear infection, we will not pluck his ears.  Can you imagine the searing pain having hair pulled out of an ear that is tender and inflamed?  This dog should be under veterinary care and the vet can do this for you minimizing the complications or perhaps using a sedative to make the dog more comfortable.
bulletIf your dog has impacted anal glands we will not expel his glands.  Once again, a pet with gland issues should be under medical care.
bulletIf your dog has collapsed trachea we will not use restraints.  If the pet requires two groomers because of this there will be an extra handling fee.
bulletIf your dog has a nervous disorder we will NOT rush his clip.  Time, patience and understand are the best for this pet.
bulletIf your dog is arthritic we will NOT hold his legs in positions which are painful for his joints.  This may compromise the quality of your trim.
bulletIf your dog is ill or stressed we will NOT push him over the edge into a seizure looking for a perfect finish.                                                                                                              When your pet is at risk, we go for clean and comfortable, not perfect.
bulletWe cannot grooming faces of animals with infected teeth and gums. 
bulletWe will not under any circumstances administer sedatives of any kind.
bulletWe are NOT qualified for expression of boils and sebaceous conditions.
